Japan’s inbound tourism market is drawing increasing attention as a core growth industry. However, despite the country’s rich potential, its tourism assets have yet to gain sufficient global recognition. Interest in Japan’s nature, culture, cuisine, and region-specific experiences continues to grow, and the number of international travelers seeking these authentic offerings is expected to rise further.
At the same time, structural challenges—such as limited multilingual and cultural infrastructure, underdeveloped regional transportation networks, shortages in accommodation and reception capacity, and unequal distribution of tourism-related talent—remain significant bottlenecks, particularly in rural areas.
I believe that this space, where challenges and opportunities intersect, holds immense potential. By strategically supporting companies that are committed to creating new value in this domain, I hope to contribute to the advancement of Japan’s tourism industry, the revitalization of local economies, and the enhancement of Japan’s global presence.
